Statement of Faith

In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.

These are the essentials of the faith that we ask each of our members to adopt:

Heritage Classical Co-op embraces biblical and historical Christianity as expressed in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, and as summarized in the Nicene and Apostles’ Creeds as we believe they faithfully express the doctrines of the Scriptures.

The Bible

We believe the Bible, both the Old and New Testament, is God’s only infallible, inerrant, Word. Scripture alone is our only rule of faith and practice and our final authority for faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

The Sovereignty of God

We believe God is completely sovereign over all things in heaven and on earth for all of time. This is the most important principle of salvation because God provides our way to salvation (John 3:16, Romans 8:28-30).

The Holy Trinity

We believe the Bible teaches that there is only one God who exists eternally in three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. They execute distinct but harmonious roles in creation, providence, redemption, and consummation. They are equal in nature, attributes, and perfections (Genesis 1:2, John 15:26).

Man

We believe man was created innocent and pure in the image of God, but through Adam’s sin of disobedience, all of mankind have fallen. Therefore, all men are corrupted in body, soul, and spirit, and all men are in need of salvation (Romans 5:12).

Salvation

We believe Salvation is by grace alone and through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ, a free gift of God apart from works. Salvation requires repentance through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. All who receive Jesus Christ are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become children of God, and their salvation will be evidenced by a changed life (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Family and Sexuality

We believe God immutably created human beings as distinctly male or female, who together reflect the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27). Children are a blessing and are to be stewarded to the glory of God. To reject one’s biological gender is a rejection of the image of God within that person and is a sin against God. The Bible teaches that marriage consists of the union between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Ephesians 5:22-33), and that sexual intimacy is a sacred act of marriage (Matthew 5:27-30).
